My mailbox was threatening to fall in the street - which would be the second time! The post seemed solid enough, but the arms and the box itself, beyond repair. Figured I'd treat myself to a new one, which I purchased from Rodney's Signs. My new arms and box look very good. The arms have the numbers cut into them and are made from a plastic-imitation-wood, which should last forever. The box is a heavy gauge steel and looks pretty sturdy too. |
| I borrowed the mailbox paint from the neighborhood, ripped the old arms off and slapped some paint on, made it look pretty ok.
Now, it turns out the post from Rodney's (you can buy the whole lot, and even get them to install it) is 4in square. The old ones are 3in square, so it took a little bit of fiddling to make it fit.

It turned out pretty fine though.
The two pieces of wood on top are supplied with the arms and are what the box attaches to.

Fitting the box was very easy and the finished results should last a long time and look great.
All I have left to do is put a little gold paint on the top and I'm good to go!

If your mailbox is looking bad, how about getting a new one and making a differnce to the look of your house and the neighborhood.
Project took a couple of hours and was of moderate difficulty. If you have any questions, or need help, let me or any member of the board know. |

Those of you that have lived here a few years will remember the entrance to the neighborhood before Davis Drive was widened. We had one of our statues there, but moved it for safe-keeping while the road and entrance were being worked. We've finally moved her back and concreted her in. I think she looks great!
